Why Pipe Relining Has Taken The Industry By Storm

Gone are the days when a blocked drain or a damaged pipe meant days of labour and extensive excavations.

Well, it's on its way out, at least. Thanks to advancements in plumbing technology, the pipe repair process has become far more efficient and cost-effective. At Jetset Plumbing, we harness the power of the latest technology and innovation to offer you a better solution: pipe relining.

This modern approach eliminates the need for extensive digging, providing a less stressful experience for homeowners.

Why Pipe Relining Has Taken The Industry By Storm

Which is More Cost-Effective?

Rebuild

When it comes to a rebuild job, plumbers resort to one of two options: manually digging out a trench in your yard or hiring an excavator to do the job if required.

Digging these trenches takes a considerable amount of time, as well as substantial manpower and equipment. Not to mention, this is a preliminary step that takes place before any of the repair work is actually started. And then we can't forget the additional labour required after the job to restore the site to its original condition.

Basically, while the material may cost less, the process itself and the time it takes is not the most cost-effective solution.

Reline

However, with pipe relining, the process is quite different in that it does not require any extensive excavation. Sounds good, right? But how does it work?

When it comes to pipe relining, all the repair work happens internally.

First, a water jetter is used to clear any obstructions from the pipe, before a drain camera is sent in to inspect the damage. Following this, an inflatable bladder and a felt liner coated in epoxy resin are sent through the access point and pulled into position.

Once set, the bladder is inflated in order to coat the internal walls with the epoxy, which is then left to sit until it cures. Once the tools are removed, you are left with a hard shell that seamlessly blends with the already existing pipe.

This method takes away the need for heavy machinery, extensive clean-up, and long labour hours, making it arguably far more cost effective.

Benefits of Pipe Relining?

Obviously, two of the main benefits of pipe relining are both its time and cost efficiency.

But it also takes away the intrusiveness often paired with a rebuild, both on your schedule and to your yard. Pipe relining is often a one day event, if that, and, as mentioned, does not require the plumber to do any extensive digging. This means you are not having to make yourself available for more than one day, and your beautiful yards are not being damaged in the process.

Another incredible benefit actually has to do with the durability of the epoxy resin itself, in that it is far more durable and reliable than any of the materials used to build new pipes.

A pipe that has been repaired using epoxy resin is far less susceptible to intrusion, meaning you are less likely to have any damage caused by tree roots or rocks in the future.
