Gas Fitting Services for Safe, Reliable and Long-Term Performance

Gas work in an Ipswich home or business must be completed by a person whose Queensland gas work licence covers the job. Warning signs can include a fuel-gas smell, hissing near pipework, discoloured flames, soot, an appliance that will not ignite or a gas hot water system that repeatedly shuts down.

Gas faults require prompt, careful attention. Do not attempt a DIY repair or test a suspected leak with a flame. If you smell gas, avoid flames and electrical switches, ventilate if it is safe, turn off the appliance and gas supply if it is safe to do so, and contact your gas supplier or a licensed gas fitter. Call 000 for a fire, explosion, uncontrolled leak or life-threatening emergency.

Jetset Plumbing provides gas appliance installation and repair, gas leak testing, pipework alterations, new gas lines and gas hot water work. We test the completed work and provide the documentation required for the type of job, including a gas system compliance certificate for installation work where required.

We work across Ipswich houses, apartments, managed properties and commercial premises. The gas type, appliance approval, ventilation, flueing, pipe sizing and existing installation are checked before the appropriate solution is confirmed.

Tom and Max did a wonderful job replacing the guttering at my house, repairing seized laundry taps, and removing an old insinkerator from my kitchen. I recommend them highly.
A big thank you to all the Jetset staff who worked on my property over the last 4 days. The team led by Rhys replaced my entire stormwater system, installed an undersink hot water system (love this!), fixed leaking taps and then replaced the electrics from the green box to my home. A massive effort by Rhys, Howie, Tom S, Winnie, Tom W, Luke, Kye, Sean, Josh, Liam, Hallsey and anyone i missed. Their professionalism and work ethic was incredible. Thank you for making a difficult process so easy.
Jack & Jacob have done an outstanding job on fixing the drainage around the majority of our house. The drainage issues have been a big concern for us and Jetset were the first people we called. Initially Doug talked us through a very comprehensive plan on how to fix our issues, and Jack & Jacob completed those plans to a great standard. Dealing with Doug, Jack and Jacob throughout the process has always been a pleasure.

Jack and Jacob were always on time and were always happy to stop and have a chat and answer all of our kids questions. We particularly appreciate the care and effort that was put into refurbishing the yard once the job had been completed. We had anticipated this job taking 4-5 days but Jack and Jacob completed it in 3 to a very high standard.

We have used Jetset multiple times now for both big and small jobs and we have never had anything but a great experience.
Excellent job by these two legends, Big T and Tye! They made us feel comfortable and reassured us that the job would be done properly, which was especially appreciated after what turned out to be a nasty main drain pipe/sinkhole.

Thanks to Jetset for the professionalism, perfection and great workmanship. You’ve got a fantastic bunch of guys! 👏😊

Excellent device! Max was punctual and took the time to explain the job. He also corrected some pre-existing issues, which I am very grateful for. I’m very happy with Max and will be using JetSet again!

Gas Plumbing Services

Gas Appliance Installation & Repair

We install and repair suitable Type A gas appliances including cooktops, ovens and gas hot water systems, subject to the licence scope and site requirements. Before installation, the gas type, appliance approval, clearances, ventilation, flueing, isolation and available gas supply are checked.

Using specialised tools, the appliance is checked, installed, or repaired to ensure it is running safely and correctly. This includes making sure connections are secure and the system suits the type of gas connected to your property, whether it's natural gas from the mains or LPG supplied in bottles.

Every installation and repair is completed properly to deliver safe, reliable results.

Gas Leak Detection

Gas leak testing helps locate faults in accessible pipework, valves, regulators and appliance connections. A fuel-gas smell or hissing noise requires immediate attention. Stop using the affected system and follow the emergency guidance above rather than trying to locate or repair the leak yourself.

With advanced equipment, the source of the leak is pinpointed accurately so it can be repaired quickly and safely. This ensures the gas system is sealed and operating as it should, reducing risk and restoring safe use of your property.

Using proven methods, gas leaks are located and fixed properly with safety as the priority.

Gas Line Installation & Upgrades

New appliances can change the demand on an Ipswich property's gas installation. Existing pipework may need to be assessed for material, route, condition and capacity before a new branch, isolation valve or upgraded line is installed.

The system is installed or upgraded using the correct sizing and connections to ensure safe and efficient gas flow. This allows appliances to run properly and supports future use without issues, all completed with minimal disruption.

Gas line work is carried out properly to ensure reliable performance and long-term safety.

Safety Checks & Compliance Testing

Gas safety checks and testing assess whether the relevant installation is operating correctly and whether defects require repair. Queensland requires gas work to be performed by an appropriately licensed person, and installation work requires the applicable certification and compliance plate.

Through a full inspection, the system is tested and assessed to confirm everything is safe and compliant. Any issues are identified and addressed so your gas setup is working correctly and meets required standards.

We explain the test results, any defect found and the work required before proceeding. See the Queensland Government gas safety guidance for official household safety information.

Gas Fitting FAQs

What are the signs of a gas leak?

There are several signs of a gas leak. You may smell gas, hear a hissing sound near pipes, or notice appliances not working properly. In some cases, you may feel unwell or dizzy. If you notice any of these signs, it is important to act quickly and have the system checked.

What should I do if I suspect a gas leak?

Do not light flames or operate electrical switches. Turn off the gas appliance and open doors and windows if it is safe. If the smell continues, turn off the gas supply if it is safe and contact your gas supplier or a licensed gas fitter. If gas can still be smelt after the supply is off, or there is a fire, explosion or uncontrolled leak, leave the area and call 000.

What is an instantaneous gas hot water system?

An instantaneous gas hot water system heats water as you need it instead of storing it in a tank. This allows you to have hot water on demand without running out and can improve energy efficiency and reduce running costs over time.

What are the risks of DIY gas work?

DIY gas work can be extremely dangerous. If gas systems are not installed or repaired correctly, it can lead to gas leaks, fires, explosions, or carbon monoxide poisoning. Gas work should always be carried out by a licensed professional.

Why is it important to use a licensed gas fitter?

Gas work must be completed safely and correctly to protect your property and the people inside it. A licensed gas fitter has the training and experience to handle gas systems properly, ensuring the work meets safety standards and reduces the risk of future issues.

Can any plumber carry out gas fitting work?

No, not all plumbers are qualified to work with gas systems. Gas fitting requires additional training and licences, so it is important to ensure the person working on your gas system is a licensed gas fitter.

Do plumbers work with gas systems?

Yes, some plumbers are trained to work with gas systems and are known as gas fitters or gas plumbers. They have the appropriate licences and training to install, repair, and service gas systems safely.

What types of gas systems can you work on?

Gas systems can run on natural gas or LPG, also known as bottled gas. A licensed gas fitter can work on both types, including gas appliances, hot water systems, and gas lines connected to your property.

Can you install gas hot water systems?

Yes, gas hot water systems can be installed, repaired, and serviced. This includes both storage and instantaneous systems, with the setup completed safely and in line with current standards to suit your gas type.

Can you install and upgrade gas lines?

Yes, gas lines can be installed or upgraded to suit your property. This may be required when adding new appliances or replacing outdated systems, and all work is completed to ensure safe and reliable operation.

How often should gas appliances be checked?

Follow the appliance manufacturer's servicing and maintenance instructions. Have faults, damage, unusual operation or safety concerns checked promptly by a licensed gas fitter whose licence covers the work.
