Instant hot water systems heat water as it flows through the unit instead of storing a full cylinder. They can save space and avoid storage heat loss, but performance depends on selecting the right energy source, flow capacity and installation location.

We assess the household demand and existing services, diagnose faults and explain whether repair, like-for-like replacement or a different system is the practical option.

Reliable and honest

I would recommend this group - the first quote I was given for relining my pipes was $54k - yep !! Jetset did it for $20k

Same job done better and less than half the price

Definitely use Jetset
Fast and efficient service from Keith, would highly recommend
I called Jet Set Plumbing for my place in Varsity Lakes and Reece came. Reece was amazing. He went above and beyond. I called to just look at the downpipe but he inspected the sewage, the taps inside the house and provided a full comprehensive assessment - without me even asking. After everything he called much later to even check in to ensure everything was okay. I would recommend Jet Set Plumbing and Reece to everyone. Amazing customer service - the best.
After buying our first home, we had a wide variety of plumbing works needing to be done, and quickly. We saw the Jetset team and the overwhelmingly positive google reviews and went with the crowd. Boy are we glad we did.

This team has blown my socks off with how excellent their service and professionalism is. From start to finish, they provided clear and consise information about each job they completed, and did amazing work all the way along.

To top it off, we recieved a lovely little gift in the mail a month after all was completed, that we use every day.

Can't thank the team enough for their work and would encourage anyone to use Jetset in the future.
I’d like to thank Mitch of GC Jetset Plumbing for the excellent and meticulous workmanship, professionalism, prompt and on time service. Mitch showed willingness to share his knowledge and expertise for me to understand the job at hand and was up front and committed to his quote, start to finish. My weekend will be spent swanning past my bathroom to stare at my new toilet system and enjoy the peace of no running water , overflow or hissing 😂 Thank you Mitch and thank you Jetset Plumbing for your prompt service response.
I recently had Jetset Plumbing replace my hot water system, and I couldn't be happier with the service. Communication was excellent from start to finish, and Tom took the time to clearly (and kindly) explain the issues with my electrical system in a way that was easy to understand. The whole team was friendly, professional, and efficient. I highly recommend Jetset Plumbing, and a big thank you for the thoughtful surprise gift—it was such a lovely touch!
Jetset plumbing upgraded my 18 year old failing hot water system. Liam was assigned the job of replacing the system. He was very professional, polite and kept me informed of his progress. His workmanship was excellent and he left the site clean and tidy. Prior to completing the job he explained the key maintenance tasks that I needed to do every six months to ensure the system functioned optimally.
Windum (sorry if I spelt it wrong) and Tom were great, and exceptionally friendly. Got a pressure regulator on the main done, and a new hot water system. The job looks great and always kept a smile, even with all the questions I had. Give these lads a well deserved EKO~
Outstanding work from Jetset plumbing from start to finish couldn’t ask for better service, they were flawless Got a quote from Reece one day Then fixed by Dan the next day Just what you need these days. Absolutely legends Give them a call if you want your job done properly✅
A big pat on the back for a considerate helpful person Rhys who reached out to help jump-start our car which was blocking the road. He went out of his way and ensured we got home safely after starting car. Thanks Rhys we need people like you in this world.
Very professional plumber. Found the leak easily and fixed with ease. Went up and beyond to make sure I didn't run late for a appointment. Would recommend them to everyone
As a family we have been greatly impressed by the team at Jetset plumbing, they are professional, caring and go the extra mile, highly recommended is an understatement. After calling another company who quoted over $4000 for a drain fix we called Jetset plumbing for a comparison quote and were pleasantly surprised that their quote for the same work came in at less than a quarter of the cost which enabled us to get some other work done. Rhys spent the time to explain and talk through options providing us with a detailed quote at a great price. From the office crew to the plumbers Jetset plumbing make the whole process a stress less experience. One of our grandchildren was anxious about having people in the house they don’t know, and was disappointed that the plumbers name was not Mario( from Nintendo) the plumbers on the day Jack and Tye were great, they were respectful of his anxiety and very accomodating. We had a hiccup with the new taps that were installed and Rhys went the extra mile to sort out the problem arriving later as ‘Mario’ much to the delight of all the grand children. We were extremely impressed by the thoughtfulness, understanding and kindness shown by all the staff at Jetset who could not have been more helpful but in particular ‘Mario’. Thanks Rhys and Jetset for an outstanding experience.

How Instant Hot Water Systems Work

Opening a hot tap creates water flow through the unit. A sensor detects that demand and the system activates its gas burner or electric heating elements. Water passes through the heat exchanger and travels directly to the outlet without being stored in a large tank.

The system still takes time to deliver hot water through the pipe between the unit and the tap. A unit mounted far from the bathroom or kitchen can therefore waste water while the cooled water in that pipe is displaced.

Gas and Electric Instant Hot Water

System type Key installation considerations
Gas continuous flow Gas type, pipe capacity, gas pressure, ventilation or flue requirements, electrical supply where applicable, water flow and safe compliant location.
Whole-home electric instantaneous High electrical demand, switchboard and circuit capacity, available phases, water flow, temperature rise and simultaneous outlet use.
Point-of-use electric Designed for a limited outlet or application. Capacity, electrical supply and permitted use must match the proposed fixture.
Electric instantaneous hot water system

Sizing a Continuous-Flow System

Instant systems are rated by the flow they can heat through a specified temperature rise. A model that performs well at one shower may not maintain the desired temperature when a second shower, kitchen tap or appliance operates at the same time.

We consider simultaneous fixtures, typical flow rates, incoming-water temperature, desired outlet temperature, available gas or electrical capacity and the distance to key outlets. A larger nominal unit is only useful if the property services can support it.

“Continuous flow” means the unit does not rely on a stored tank; it does not mean unlimited flow at every outlet. Correct capacity and service design are essential for stable temperature.

Benefits and Trade-Offs

Potential benefits

Compact installation without a large storage cylinder

No standing heat loss from a tank

Hot water continues while demand stays within rated capacity

Temperature controller options on compatible systems

Points to consider

Minimum flow may be needed before the burner or element activates

Simultaneous outlets can exceed the unit’s capacity

Upgrades to gas pipework or electrical supply may be required

Long pipe runs still create a wait for hot water

Water supply, gas type and capacity, electrical requirements, drainage and the proposed unit location are assessed.

The selected system and required plumbing, gas, electrical or location changes are documented and priced.

4. Install and commission

Appropriately licensed trades complete the work, then operating flow, temperature and accessible connections are tested.

Instant Hot Water Systems Brisbane FAQs

Is instant hot water really instant?

The unit begins heating when it detects flow, but cooled water already in the pipe must reach the tap first. Delivery time depends largely on pipe length, flow and layout.

Can an instant system run two showers?

Only if the unit, incoming services and temperature rise support the combined flow. Sizing should be based on realistic simultaneous use rather than a single outlet.

Why does my instant hot water turn cold during a shower?

Possible causes include low or fluctuating flow, demand above capacity, gas or electrical supply problems, blocked filters, scale, sensor faults or mixing at the fixture.

Why does the unit not start at a low-flow tap?

Continuous-flow units generally require a minimum water flow before activating. Restricted aerators, partially opened valves or very low-flow fixtures may not trigger the system reliably.

Is gas or electric continuous flow better?

That depends on household demand, available gas, electrical capacity, tariff, installation cost and location. A site assessment is needed before comparing suitable models.

Can I replace a storage system with instant hot water?

Often yes, but it is not always a like-for-like change. Gas pipework, electrical supply, water flow, mounting location, drainage and old-system removal may alter the scope.

Does an instant hot water system need electricity?

Electric systems do, and many gas continuous-flow units also need electricity for ignition, controls and fans. The model specifications determine the required supply.

How often should a continuous-flow system be serviced?

Follow the manufacturer’s servicing schedule and arrange earlier attention for temperature fluctuation, ignition trouble, error codes, unusual noise or leakage. Water quality and usage can affect maintenance needs.

Can you repair error codes?

We diagnose plumbing and suitable gas-side faults and coordinate licensed electrical work where required. The code is a starting point; testing is needed before replacing components.

How much does an instant hot water system cost?

Cost depends on capacity, energy source, brand, location and any gas, electrical or plumbing upgrades. We provide an upfront project price for the agreed installation.

Do you service instant hot water systems across Brisbane?

Yes. We service Brisbane City and surrounding northside, southside, eastern and western suburbs, subject to system type and availability.
