Impressed with the communication from the get go throughout the job. The team were obviously experienced and each team member very pleasant and professional around explanations regarding the installation process.
Rhys was absolutely amazing. Kind, helpful and courteous. Couldn't recommend anyone better. Even went to the shop for us and bought my niece and ice cream from the ice cream truck. Got everything sorted in the afternoon and was so lovely to chat to. Thankyou Rhys, you're such a saver. If I could give 10 stars I would.
I called Jetset today after having a prior excellent experience with them. My plumber today, Doug, was extremely professional and personable. He explained the issue and helped me work through the solutions to find the best scenario for my situation. I will continue to use Jetset for anything that comes up in the future and highly recommend the business and Doug!
Keith from jet set plumbing came out and was amazing, fixed our tap no issues, quick, professional. Thank you Keith for your help, we appreciate it. You are a jet set legend 🙌
Absolutely fantastic service! Keith from jet set came and fixed our leak, was brilliant from start to finish. He had it sorted quickly with no fuss, was incredibly professional, friendly and clearly knew his stuff. Keith was super friendly with our toddler who was really intrigued and interested in what was going on, he took sometime to show him his tools and talk about what he was doing.
Thank you so much, Keith, for your help — we really appreciate the great service.
Highly recommend!
Fantastic job by dug.
Reliable and honest

I would recommend this group - the first quote I was given for relining my pipes was $54k - yep !! Jetset did it for $20k

Same job done better and less than half the price

Definitely use Jetset
Fast and efficient service from Keith, would highly recommend
I called Jet Set Plumbing for my place in Varsity Lakes and Reece came. Reece was amazing. He went above and beyond. I called to just look at the downpipe but he inspected the sewage, the taps inside the house and provided a full comprehensive assessment - without me even asking. After everything he called much later to even check in to ensure everything was okay. I would recommend Jet Set Plumbing and Reece to everyone. Amazing customer service - the best.
After buying our first home, we had a wide variety of plumbing works needing to be done, and quickly. We saw the Jetset team and the overwhelmingly positive google reviews and went with the crowd. Boy are we glad we did.

This team has blown my socks off with how excellent their service and professionalism is. From start to finish, they provided clear and consise information about each job they completed, and did amazing work all the way along.

To top it off, we recieved a lovely little gift in the mail a month after all was completed, that we use every day.

Can't thank the team enough for their work and would encourage anyone to use Jetset in the future.
I’d like to thank Mitch of GC Jetset Plumbing for the excellent and meticulous workmanship, professionalism, prompt and on time service. Mitch showed willingness to share his knowledge and expertise for me to understand the job at hand and was up front and committed to his quote, start to finish. My weekend will be spent swanning past my bathroom to stare at my new toilet system and enjoy the peace of no running water , overflow or hissing 😂 Thank you Mitch and thank you Jetset Plumbing for your prompt service response.
I recently had Jetset Plumbing replace my hot water system, and I couldn't be happier with the service. Communication was excellent from start to finish, and Tom took the time to clearly (and kindly) explain the issues with my electrical system in a way that was easy to understand. The whole team was friendly, professional, and efficient. I highly recommend Jetset Plumbing, and a big thank you for the thoughtful surprise gift—it was such a lovely touch!

Electric Hot Water System Types

Electric hot water system options Brisbane

Electric storage systems

An electric storage system heats water with one or more electrical elements and stores it in an insulated cylinder until a tap is opened. The tank capacity, element arrangement and electricity supply affect how much hot water is available and how quickly it recovers after use.

Some storage systems may be suitable for an economy or controlled-load tariff. Availability, supply hours, eligibility and pricing are determined by the electricity retailer and network arrangements, so these should be checked before choosing the tank size.

Instantaneous electric systems

An instantaneous electric system heats water as it flows through the unit instead of storing a full tank. Whole-home units can require substantial electrical capacity, so the available supply, switchboard, circuit, flow rate and simultaneous demand must be assessed before selection.

A compact unit is not automatically suitable for every house or every outlet. The plumber and electrician need to confirm the water and electrical requirements for the proposed model.

Choosing the Right Electric Hot Water System

Correct sizing is about more than the number of bedrooms. We consider household occupancy, shower duration, bath use, fixture flow rates, when hot water is used, available electricity tariff, installation location and whether several outlets operate together.

Consideration Why it affects the choice
Household demand A system must provide enough usable hot water for typical peak periods without being unnecessarily oversized.
Tariff and recovery Restricted supply hours can require greater storage, while continuous supply may allow recovery throughout the day.
Available space The tank, valves, drain lines, safe tray where required and service clearances all need a suitable location.
Electrical capacity The element or instantaneous unit must suit the circuit, switchboard and available electricity supply.
Existing plumbing Pipe sizes, pressure, valves, tempering and the old system layout can affect installation scope.
Queensland guidance requires residential storage water to be heated to at least 60°C to control Legionella risk, while temperature-control measures limit water delivered to relevant sanitary fixtures. Do not turn down the storage thermostat yourself; electrical adjustments require a licensed electrician.

See the current Queensland hot water system requirements for official temperature-control guidance.

Repair or Replace?

The safest and most economical option depends on the fault and the condition of the complete system.

Repair may be practical when:

The cylinder is sound and the fault is isolated to a serviceable valve or connection

The system is appropriately sized and otherwise in reasonable condition

Compatible parts are available and repair cost is proportionate

Replacement may be appropriate when:

The storage cylinder is leaking or badly corroded

The system is incorrectly sized or repeatedly runs out

Repair is uneconomical, parts are unavailable or several major components are failing

Electric Hot Water Installation Process

1. Assess demand and the existing system

We review the old unit, household requirements, available space, pipework, valves, drainage and electrical supply information.

2. Confirm the replacement scope

The proposed system, plumbing changes, electrical work, temperature-control device and removal requirements are explained before work begins.

3. Install and connect

The water heater and required plumbing components are installed, while licensed electrical work is completed for the electrical connection and controls.

4. Fill, test and commission

The cylinder is filled and purged before energising, accessible connections and valves are checked, and the completed system is commissioned for operation.

Electric Hot Water Systems Brisbane FAQs

Why do I have no hot water?

Possible causes include an electrical supply issue, failed element or thermostat, a control or tariff problem, a tripped safety device or a plumbing fault. Electrical testing must be completed by a licensed electrician.

Why is my hot water only lukewarm?

A failed element, thermostat issue, tempering problem, crossed connection, excessive demand or sediment can affect temperature. The system needs testing before the cause can be confirmed.

Is water from the relief drain normal?

Some discharge during heating can be normal because stored water expands. Continuous or excessive flow may indicate a valve, pressure or heating issue and should be assessed.

What should I do if the tank is leaking?

Keep clear of electrical components and pooled water. If safe, isolate the water supply and electricity to the unit using the identified controls, then arrange urgent assessment.

Can electric storage hot water use an economy tariff?

Many systems can, subject to the installation and retailer’s controlled-load options. Energex notes that economy tariffs provide limited daily supply hours, so system size must suit the available heating window.

How often should an electric hot water system be serviced?

Follow the manufacturer’s maintenance schedule and arrange earlier inspection if there is leakage, noise, rust, temperature change or valve trouble. Site water quality and component type can affect intervals.

Can I adjust the thermostat myself?

No. Queensland Health advises that thermostat adjustments should be completed by a licensed electrician. Lowering storage temperature can create a Legionella risk.

How long does an electric hot water system last?

Service life varies with system quality, water conditions, installation, usage and maintenance. Age alone does not confirm condition, so visible corrosion, leakage and repair history should also be considered.

Can I change from gas or another system to electric?

Often yes, but the plumbing, electrical capacity, tariff, location, running costs and removal of the old energy connection all need assessment by the relevant licensed trades.

How much does an electric hot water replacement cost?

Cost depends on capacity, model, access, valves, pipework, electrical work, temperature control and disposal. We provide an upfront project price for the agreed installation.

Do you service electric hot water systems across Brisbane?

Yes. We service Brisbane City and surrounding northside, southside, eastern and western suburbs, subject to system details and availability.
