Coronavirus and Your Health
Coronavirus will forever change the way we see the future and talk about public health. Do your bit and help fight against COVID-19 by following instructions from the Australian Government, maintain social distancing and follow self-isolation guidelines if you are required to. As we know, the elderly and those with pre-existing health conditions are those that are most susceptible to the virus. The World Health Organisation is emphasising the importance of good hygiene – wash your hands, don’t touch your face and avoid unnecessary social outings! Your immune system is one thing that you can gain control over in these uncertain times. Here’s a few simple tips.
This is far easier said than done. Right now, the levels of news coverage and social media talk about the virus are mind-blowing – you can’t turn on the TV or scroll through Facebook without seeing at least one thing about it. This influx of information is doing more harm than good to you, it doesn’t ease worries and only makes us more stressed. This has a tumble on effect of suppressing our immune system! You should implement measures to actively avoid COVID-19 related stress, meditation and exercise are great relievers for this. Now would also be a great time to stay off social media, check in on the updates you need by visiting sources such as the Department of Health and .gov sites.
Keep Your Body Moving!
We all know that we need to be practising social distancing and avoiding non-essential social outings, but this doesn’t mean you’re resigned to sit on the couch while you wait out the virus! Government directives have given the tick of approval for exercising outdoors and staying active is a great way to fight off any illness. Avoid exercising in groups, take some time for yourself and go for a walk or run around your block or at your local park or beach!
Eat Your Greens
Your local shops may be suffering from a severe shortage of non-perishable items, but fresh fruit and vegetables are restocked more frequently and should be ready for you when you visit! Stock up on different colours and varieties of fruits and veggies so you cover all your essential nutrients. These nutrient dense foods will help your body perform at its best.
